I appreciated (and even identified) with the characters in the sitcom Everyone Loves Raymond. I bet that even the most "normal" families would admit to having relatives that are hugely flawed but lovable just the same as those found in the Barone family. And aren't we lucky (most of the time) to have those people that drive us nuts, but remind us we are part of something bigger--our familial posse?
My particular favorite was the over-imposing mother named Marie Barone that actress Doris Roberts played brilliantly during this long-running show. My husband David writes for SmartTalk over at Around Des Moines about the speakers that comprise the series each year. I'm excited to hear Doris Roberts speak here in Des Moines in January. To learn more about Roberts and the events head on over to Around Des Moines.
